iDVD with Older iMac 2009

My early 2009 iMac has an internal DVD drive. It seems to work fine except for the iDVD. I often burn movie files with iDVD but since my upgrade to OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), iDVD gives me an "ALERT" saying "Your Macintosh does not have a supported SuperDrive. Please note that while you will be able to work with iDVD projects, you will not be able to burn a DVD disc. I've tried the SMC RESET and PRAM RESET 3 times consecutively. This did not seem to change anything. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Can someone help?

Launch your System Information. Make sure your internal optical drive can write DVD and DVD-RW. If not, you can purchase the Apple USB SuperDrive. It will work.

My System Information says "No disc burning device was found." It worked just fine until I upgraded my OS a few weeks ago.

I suppose it might be a bug of El Capitan. You'd better feedback your problem to Apple.

Agreed. Unfortunately there are disk handling issues with El Capitan. As Apple works these out, they provide Updates. I use the USB Superdrive and it works. Thank goodness.
